Where nature becomes art

Harry Lea

Harry was born in Manchester, England, and emigrated to Australia with his family at the age of four. After a brief period in Melbourne, he grew up in Exmouth in Western Australia, where vast coastline and open horizons shaped his early engagement with the landscape. Those formative years continue to influence the way he sees and paints today.

His work focuses primarily on land and seascapes, often inspired by travel and extended time spent camping in remote regions. He is drawn to natural and historic places that hold quiet presence and enduring character. Rather than replicate a scene photographically, Harry seeks to convey the atmosphere and lived experience of being within it.

Although he undertook a short period of formal study, his practice developed largely through independent discipline and sustained observation. He continues to refine his approach through ongoing study, balancing realism with assured brushwork to capture light, space and atmosphere.
